Trapped at the Blog Parteeh venue

On the way out after the , a dozen or so attendees got into an elevator and went down to the ground floor. When they got there, the doors refused to open.

Pushing the buttons on the panel did nothing - as the air in the elevator car grew heavier, its occupants could only stare at their reflections on the unopened doors.

They pushed the emergency button, hoping for some help. Nobody replied. Nobody came to help them. Pretty soon, they started complaining about the lack of oxygen. After that, claustrophobia set in. More buttons were pressed.

After what seemed like hours, the doors finally opened. In unison, everybody took in a deep breath.

Who knew an elevator ride with a dozen or so bloggers could be so exciting?

[…] i finally got to meet [again] pro-photographers Elber [who, last i read, was trapped with a dozen people inside the elevator at the venue] and Markku… i hope we get to plan the shoot one of these days… *hint* *hint* […]

Now that is indeed scary. On the good side, you folks got to know each other better.

pics or it didn’t happen! :)

  5. Sasha Says:

Getting trapped in an elevator wasn’t part of the programme, right? Dear God. I actually felt close to suffocating. Ack!

  6. Valerie Says:

I was thinking how bad it would be if someone forgot to brush his teeth or deodorize his armpits.

  7. ade Says:

    No way. That was scary.

  8. Shari Says:

I’ve been hearing a lot about this incident. Who knew, indeed?

That makes the Blog Parteeh 07 even more unforgettable. =)

  9. jun Says:

i thought it was a joke! did you take pictures there (just kidding).. It must have been traumatic…

But anyway, everyone seemed to forget the incident with the enjoyment in your faces in the parteeh.

See you again some time.. and teach me your tricks.. when i get my DSLR…

Tina: Your picture is somewhere in my blogparteeh07 album. If you want a larger version, tell me.

Chris / in retrospect: We’ll shoot one of these days. We just need to get everybody together again.

Janette: It wasn’t really scary - I like exaggerating for the dramatic effect. We had a few laughs after that.

BRB: I guess it didn’t happen after all. There were at least two photographers there, and we had our cameras in our bags. Of course, we could ask building security if they have footage…

Sasha: I didn’t see it on the programme. Then again, I never saw the programme in the first place.

Valerie: I’m not claustrophobic, but with that in mind, I probably would have panicked and started suffocating.

Ade: Yes way. Not too scary, but see my exchange with Valerie.

Shari: So unlike Bouncing Red Ball, you don’t have to see to believe, right? It happened, even if we have only our memories to prove it did.

Jun: Nope, I wasn’t joking. Like I told BRB, we had our cameras in our bags. I wasn’t traumatized, but a stinker would’ve totally done that for me. See you again sometime… and I’ll have tricks for you, whatever camera you have.

It was great meeting you all! See you again soon!

I was joking of course. :) I take pictures too (although not as good as yours) and I know I’ve missed a lot of good shots because my dSLR is always inside my bag. I imagine you could hardly move at all inside the elevator to think about taking out your camera from your bag. But I just thought it could easily have been the best shot of the Blog Parteeh! (You have great pictures in your Gallery, by the way.)

[…] Or as we call it here in the Philippines an elevator. As narrated by Elber this happened just after the blogger bash last January 27 before midnight. Unfortunately, the only physical witness to this event is a piece of reactive film exposed to the light inside the elevator. More pictures taken from the event can be found here and snapshots taken with a fisheye lens here. And here is long and friendly wave to all those who attended the event: […]

[…] In other feed related news, The Feedtext Blog featured one of my photos recently in an article about the Blog Parteeh!  Yes, bloggers really brought the house down.  We brought the elevator down too (then back up then back down), but that’s another story. […]
