Link Love 2007.02.06
As of November 5, 2007, drivebyshooter.net will no longer be updated. For posts on photography, you can now go to LightChasers Photography. For the author's personal site, head over to the Dark Corner.
In another series of link love, I mentioned Script ADDicts - a bunch of students who are shooting “an ongoing story that starts and ends and twists and turns the way you want it to.” I also mentioned that “all the authors involved [in the last series of links] are tied together somehow.” If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m telling you now - they’re all involved with the University of Asia and the Pacific somehow, either as students, employees, or alumni.
Anyway, what does all this have to do with this next bunch of links? Well, this batch is also exclusive to UA&P students. To be specific, this goes out to Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) seniors. You see, some of them are taking up a class called Interactive Marketing. From what I understand, one of their projects is to build a blog. Think of an SEO contest run within the context of a class syllabus. They’ve got to encourage traffic to their sites - and I’m trying to help them out.
You might say that with my readership, I’m probably not going to be able to send more than a handfuls of visitors their way. I don’t really care. Some of these blogs made me laugh, and who knows - they might make you laugh too. Then again, I think I laughed more because I knew the personalities mentioned. I’m not saying that you’ll only appreciate these links if you’re from UA&P - it’s just some of them really are meant for UA&P students. Still, I suggest you at least visit all of the sites I’ve mentioned below.
Having said all that, I think I’ve got (more than) enough of an introduction for these next few links. Enjoy!
- First mention goes to Script ADDicts. Instead of posting the next episode to their story, they’ve written a short feature on their actors. Smart move on their part - they need to keep their site updated frequently. The fact that they opted to do a vlog makes this difficult, but a bunch of other updates should help their cause.
- The UA&P Insider “gives you the latest scoops and news around campus! It’s a venue to rave, to rant, and to share your thoughts on anything related to the school.” Recently, one student voiced her concern on a tissue paper crisis afflicting the campus. Yes, sensationalism sells - especially if it makes you laugh enough to want to read more.
- UAPak: UA&P in your face! features “teachers, crushes, friend’s friends, and other acquaintances in the UA&P community” as requested by its readers. One such personality is a certain “Checko.” The problem is they seem to be having trouble finding Checko. While they’re still hunting around though, they’ve chosen to feature Starbucks baristas. I’ve got a suggestion for you guys - feature Jayvee Fernandez. If I’m not mistaken, he’s the biggest professional blogger to come out of UA&P. I’m sure he can throw a lot of traffic your way. Also, back to Checko - his name is Checko Licuanan. Jayvee knows him too, by the way.
- UA&P Notes offers up… well… notes. Didn’t take notes in one of your classes? Head here and see if somebody else’s notes will help you out. One gripe I have - I think they should call the site UA&P IMC Notes instead since all the notes posted are from IMC classes.
- Bring Back the Nineties recalls how six college kids “lived and survived the nineties as kids” and reminds you in their subtitle that they’re “making fun of our younger years.” One note I have - the kidswereus crew almost had me fooled. When I first looked at their site, I didn’t think it was a class project. They picked a topic that many people, even non-UA&P students, could relate to. Heck, I laughed out loud when I saw their feature on Choki Choki, and I even kept clicking on the “Previous Entries” link at the bottom of each page. I could nitpick and say that some of the stuff they feature goes further back than the nineties, but who cares? They’ve got something here that a lot of people would want to read. A new bookmark? You bet! I just hope they keep this going even after the semester ends.
If I’m not mistaken, this just about covers all the groups. If I left anybody out, please tell me - I’ll check out your blog and add a short write-up here.

[…] This isn’t from Google Reader technically, but I read his post there first.
So wait, it is from Google Reader. Anyway, Elber posted some interesting links in his Link Love post for February 6. As opposed to the other people I know, I’m not an 80’s kid since I was born late 80’s…most of my memories were in the 90’s, and Back to the Nineties is the perfect site for me to reminisce! Read about old TV Shows such as Full House (as in Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen), Sailormoon, Gimik, TGIS, old places such as Glico’s or even old bands and magazines such as BOP! There’s even something about Choki Choki! Come on, don’t tell me you don’t know that!
My mom used to buy a box of that at Makro.
