PortraitProfessional

Can you spot the differences between the two photos above?

If you can’t, here’s a clue - her eyes are larger and her skin smoother in the image on the right. She’s also got an extra glimmer in her eyes.

I could take credit for the retouching, but that’s not my style. Besides, I would really try to avoid cutting anyone’s face at the chin like that. Nope, the retouching was done by someone else. In fact, you can probably say it was done by something else entirely.

Portrait Professional is a program that claims to be “the world’s first intelligent touch-up software.” This program, according to the press release, “enables unskilled users to achieve pro quality touchup in just 2-3 minutes that would otherwise only be possible in 1-2 hours for a skilled artist using Photoshop.”

We’re not just talking about correcting redeye and removing eyebags either. Portrait Professional allows you to “automatically resculpt the face and enhance the skin.” Resculpt the face, you ask? Check out their gallery.

I’m not too keen on the rescuplting feature - it seems too drastic. I’m pretty impressed with the skin retouching though. I do similar retouching on Photoshop, but this piece of software could put me out of a job. It works pretty fast, claiming that “no more than 5 minutes was spent on each picture.”

The texture of the skin, from my initial impressions seems ok. I’m still not too keen on the resculpting feature though. Like I said earlier, it seems too drastic.

I’d like to get my hands on this little program. I don’t think I’d use it for an extended period of time, but I’m sure I’d enjoy playing with it. Wouldn’t you?
