Does the dust removal feature on your DSLR really work?

Dust removal seems to be the hottest new feature for DSLRs today. The problem is, while most other features are tested by review sites, most of them wouldn’t even dream of getting their test units dirty.
The good folk over at Pixinfo.com, however, had a different idea - they put the dust removal systems of four cameras to the test. They decided they see just how well the Canon EOS 400D, Olympus EVOLT E-300, Pentax K10D, and Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 cleaned themselves up.
The verdict?
Dust rules over all of them. The Olympus system only got an effectiveness rating of 50% while the Canon system got a paltry 5%. The Pentax and the Sony, on the other hand, got eggs. Yup, you got it - they scored nil, nada, zilch, zero.
Their final conclusion: “keep your air blower handy, it is still your best tool against dust.”
