I had the chance to shoot at the finals of the search for Rivermaya’s next singer and I think I left with quite a few good shots. I’m not posting theme here though. Instead, I’ve posted a pair somewhere in my new portfolio over at LightChasers Photography.

Aside from that, I’m posting one of my favorite shots of the night. It’s not edited - I only resized it for the web. Yeah, there’s a distracting element, but I barely noticed it. Besides, that can be removed in Photoshop.

I didn’t take this - Bear did. I may have set up my own studio, but what does it say about me if my girlfriend gets the money shot? I’m not too sure, but I guess I’ll just have to hire her for all my shoots.

Timbuk2I don’t own one, but I’m a fan of Timbuk2’s line of bags. I toyed with the idea of building my own Timbuk2 bag a few years ago when I got my laptop, but I ended up with something I could get locally.

Like I said though, I’m still a fan, so when I received an invitation to the launch of their Blogger Bag, I braved the Friday night Makati traffic and trooped over to Outback in Glorietta 4.

Did I finally get a Timbuk2 bag? Not really - I took home a goodie bag, but that doesn’t count. I could have won the one they raffled off, but nope - that bag went to Anton.

So what did I get from the launch? Read on…

Keep Your Promises

I love hearing about events like Rock Ed Radio’s Keep Your Promises series of concerts. What is it? Let me lift directly from Rock Ed Philippines:

A series of gigs entitled KEEP YOUR PROMISES will be launched on Saturday May 19. These are small gatherings of young voters (disenfranchised voters included) to have their voices heard. That we demand the fulfillment of promises made by candidates during the elections.

Now that we’ve done our part and voted our preferred candidates into office, it’s time for the step up and deliver on their campaign promises.

I love the whole idea and the idealism behind the event. You see, it’s too easy to lose hope in this country, but seeing people care enough to organize events like this gives me hope. Reading what other bloggers have to say gives me hope. Knowing how you care about this country gives me hope.

The thing is, like I mentioned before, I’m still a cynic. Yes, I kept blogging about the elections, but I always felt like it was too little. Yes, blogging gave me a reach beyond my immediate circle of friends, but it still wasn’t enough.

Canon Image Nation Summer ‘07 at SMIf you see this banner around, take a closer look at it. Yes, it’s a banner for the Canon Image Nation Summer ‘07 at SM, but that’s not why I’m showing you this banner. They’ve got at least five other banners for the event, but I’m only posting this one here.

Why?

One of my photos is in there.

Actually, I might have more photos in there, but I’m not really sure - I haven’t seen the banner itself.

If you’re wondering which one of the images in the whole collage or mosaic is mine, let me give you a clue - it isn’t a shot of the sun. That should rule out at least a third of the pictures there.

Here’s another clue - the image is in my gallery.

I have pictures of Ang Kahalagahan ng Pagiging Seryo up! Yes, I got out of the tech booth and got my hands on a camera. Mind you, these were all shots from one show. I don’t have any shots of rehearsals, company call, or other behind the scenes images.

Can’t wait to see them?

The last two shows for Kultura’s production of The Importance of Being Earnest are today. Since my camera is in the shop, I don’t think I’ll be taking any more pictures. Besides, I’m still stuck in the tech booth. In any case, below are all the pictures in my gallery for the run of the play. I might still add some soon, but don’t bet on it. I’ll probably only get to shoot more when we resume rehearsals for Ang Kahalagahan ng Pagiging Seryo. That will run starting February 21. Enjoy!
