I wonder why our own political ads couldn’t be more like this. I admit - it doesn’t really present any tangible solutions to Argentina’s ills, but it’s still so much better than any crappy jingle Philippine politicians use.

To whomever nominated me, I don’t know why you did that, but thank you - I’m honored. I don’t quite think I’m in the class of some of the other nominees, but I’m not complaining - I’m in pretty good company.
I probably will never quite believe that drivebyshooter.net is one of “the finest blogs in the Philippines.” It would be presumptuous of me to do so. I just blog, like I’ve mentioned before, to connect with others. I’m sure you have your own reasons.
Maybe next year, I’ll be a bit less modest. Then again, maybe I’ll never really get used to the recognition. It doesn’t matter though. I’ve touched at least one person out there - and that person went out and said that my site was one of the finest. That’s more than enough recognition for me.

The rumors are true - the Mark III is coming. I’m a bit too sleepy now to write about everything in details. I’ll break everything down in another post, but for now, I’m going to bed. In the meantime, you can enjoy some excerpts from the press release.
A team of Integrated Marketing Communication students from the University of Asia and the Pacific took the AdSpeak 2007 competition by storm recently by taking the top three slots in the print ad category. The team, composed of IMC seniors Nicole Balaoing, Cis Ganuelas, Ralph Mariano, Pao Pielago, and Punky Taguines, received their awards at the AdSpeak student convention last Friday, February 16, at the Student Center Auditorium at Colegio de San Juan de Letran.
The competition, a joint effort of Letran’s Institute of Communication and the Advertising Board of the Philippines, sought the best public service announcements (PSAs) from delegates of the AdSpeak in three categories: print, radio, and television. In the print category, a total of 138 entries were in competition - 14 of which were from UA&P.
AdSpeak began in 2001 as seminar on the importance of values advertising for Communication Arts students of Letran. In 2003, it opened its doors to other colleges and universities in Metro Manila. Over the years, its delegates have benefited from the insights of various advertising practitioners, including Emily Abrera, Chairman Emeritus of McCann-Erickson; Minyong Ordonez, Founder and former Chairman of Basic Advertising; Yoly Ong, Group Chairperson of Campaigns and Grey; and Jimmy Santiago, Managing Partner of TBWA \ Santiago Mangada Puno. This year, the the AdBoard joined the fray, adding a screening of the 2006 Araw Values Awards and the AdSpeak competition to the programme.
In case you still haven’t figured out what the three images here are, here’s a clue - they’re winners. Entries from UA&P-IMC students took the top three spots, remember? Now, which image took which spot, I’ll leave that for you to figure out.
Unlike last time, I didn’t even have time to do a round by round account. In the dying seconds of the third round, Manny Pacquiao sent Erik Morales to the canvas and left Morales shaking his head in disbelief.
Even before the opening bell, the Pac Man looked ready to eat up his opponent. He looked bigger than he was in the previous bouts and for once, was the bigger dog in the fight. Once the punches started flying, Manny showed that the fight in him was bigger too. The first round was Manny’s and Morales could do nothing about it.
The opener belonged to Pacquiao, but Morales wasn’t about to let him take another round. Morales let loose on the Pac Man and the two traded blow after blow after blow. It looked to me like Morales was going to take the round - that is, until Manny landed a jarring left. Based on Morales’ reaction after the count, one might believe that Morales had slipped, but the replay made it clear - Manny had scored the first knock down.
In the third, Pacquiao simply let his fists fly. A Pac Man combination sent Morales to the mat a second time two minutes into the round - and the fight looked like it was over. Morales fought back though, and for a few moments, looked like he was going to survive. His problem was with seconds left in the round, another left from Manny sent him collapsing on the ropes a third time. Morales sat up, shook his head, and winked - the fight was over.
