A few days ago, I received two comments on my post on the Blog @ Soul launch at Mrs. Fields. Normally, I wouldn’t mind - comments are good. Heck, comments are great.

The thing is, these so called comments had nothing to do with the post. They had no connection at all with The Blog and Soul Movement, Mrs. Fields, or even anything I’ve written about.

I shared my irritation with Rico over email, and he pretty much articulated all my thoughts on the matter over at the BBN.

I don’t think I would be as diplomatic as Rico was, so once again, I’m letting somebody else do the talking for me.

No entry stencil by hugovkSomething tragic happened yesterday - drivebyshooter.net reached its bandwidth limit and had to turn everybody away. Good thing it was the end of the month - everything went back online this morning.

Does this mean I have to upgrade my hosting account?

The first photography.101 lesson we had was that it’s not about the camera, but we also mentioned the importance of good tools. This is why we’d like to help you pick a better camera.

You see, it’s way too easy to get robbed at the camera store. Yes, camera prices may be dropping, but it’s still too easy to get suckered into buying a camera for certain features that you don’t really want - or need.

One of the goals I had when I started drivebyshooter.net was to turn it into a photography resource. Yes, I wanted my gallery on it - but I also wanted to share what I’ve learned about the craft. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten very far on either count. This post, as well as others, I hope, will remedy that.

Yup, I’ve got a new category: photography.101.

Tackling the Megapixel Myth

I wrote a little something over at PopPhoto Flash discussing how getting more megapixels can actually hurt your image. The basic idea is this: “As each pixel on the sensor gets smaller, the amount of noise in the image increases.” Of course you could just head over to PopPhoto and read the whole article there. You can leave a comment too while you’re at it.

That’s my not-so-subtle-plug. Enjoy!

Hal 5 Robo Suit @ GizmodoThey can’t quite give you superpowers, but the gadgets listed under Gizmodo’s Gadget Guide to Becoming a Superhero can help you kick ass - geek style. If you try hard enough, maybe they can also help you become cooler than Batman and Superman.

On top of the list is the HAL 5 Robo Suit you see on the left - I just wish it came in black. Other items include a Pepper Ball Gun, a rope ascender, and a pair of rubber gloves. Yes, not only can you fight crime - you can wash dishes too.

Head on over to Gizmodo to start your crusade against the forces of evil.

When I discovered Pandora a little over a year ago, I had to dig up an old amplifier just to do justice to the music it served up.

Recently, I found a couple of neat applications for Pandora that had me raving about how I would never shut the box.

Now I’m eating my words. Pandora’s box is closing closed.

It isn’t my choice though - some sinister forces have forced this on me, as well as thousands of other devoted Pandora listeners.
