I came across a post on The Blog Herald recently that asked: how do you choose what you blog about? As I was reading it, I couldn’t help but think - that’s not the real question. The post was probing deeper - not just into one’s reasons for picking a topic, but also one’s reasons for writing at all. I started thinking - the post was about blog conviction. Consider these questions:
Do you write just because you have to? Because you can’t help yourself? Because the words are rushing out of your fingertips through the keyboard before you can stop them? Or is it the feeling you get when you hit “publish” which gives you a much needed thrill? Do you blog because you can say “I’m a published writer”?
If you care about blogging, head over to the Herald and read the rest of the post. At the very least, it will help you decide what you want to write about. What I hope for though, is that it helps you discover why you write.

This morning I found out that drivebyshooter.net has been nominated for The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards under the Technology category.
To whomever nominated me, I don’t know why you did that, but thank you - I’m honored. I don’t quite think I’m in the class of some of the other nominees, but I’m not complaining - I’m in pretty good company.
I probably will never quite believe that drivebyshooter.net is one of “the finest blogs in the Philippines.” It would be presumptuous of me to do so. I just blog, like I’ve mentioned before, to connect with others. I’m sure you have your own reasons.
Maybe next year, I’ll be a bit less modest. Then again, maybe I’ll never really get used to the recognition. It doesn’t matter though. I’ve touched at least one person out there - and that person went out and said that my site was one of the finest. That’s more than enough recognition for me.
