Technorati isn’t too bad, I guess…

I take it back - I guess Technorati doesn’t really suck after all.

According to Ian Kallen of Technorati, my posts are now being indexed. My five most recent posts (including the one before this and my rant on Technorati) have been indexed.

I guess this means I have to backtrack a little - Technorati doesn’t really suck. Yeah, I’ll say it one more time… but wait…

Why isn’t Technorati indexing my posts?

update 04.13.2007 0858h: Less than 24 hours after my rant, my posts are now being indexed again.  I’m not entirely happy though - at least not yet.  Read more about it here.
Tehnorati Blog Info: drivebyshooter.netI just noticed earlier that according to Technorati, my latest post is 26 days old. Contrast that with another statistic they keep track of - they say my blog was last updated 15 minutes before I checked it.

Strange, isn’t it?

Irritating is more like it.

Not counting this one, I’ve posted 23 entries in the since that last post indexed by Technorati. I don’t know how many links those posts included, but I’m guessing Technorati isn’t indexing my outbound links either.

Pinging Technorati doesn’t help either. No new posts show u and everything pretty much stays the same.

I’m not the only one with this problem either. On the Technorati Forums, several posts tagged “indexing” have remained unanswered. One post in particular, mentions a site that hasn’t been indexed in 71 days.

I noticed threads tagged “ping” and “problems” discussing similar problems, but I didn’t bother going through them anymore. None of the posts had replies from Technorati staff - how could I expect anything better from the other threads?

This sucks - and to think I was just raving about Technorati over at Abe’s.

This morning I found out that drivebyshooter.net has been nominated for The 2007 Philippine Blog Awards under the Technology category.

Philippine Blog Awards Nominees - TechnologyTo whomever nominated me, I don’t know why you did that, but thank you - I’m honored. I don’t quite think I’m in the class of some of the other nominees, but I’m not complaining - I’m in pretty good company.

I probably will never quite believe that drivebyshooter.net is one of “the finest blogs in the Philippines.” It would be presumptuous of me to do so. I just blog, like I’ve mentioned before, to connect with others. I’m sure you have your own reasons.

Maybe next year, I’ll be a bit less modest. Then again, maybe I’ll never really get used to the recognition. It doesn’t matter though. I’ve touched at least one person out there - and that person went out and said that my site was one of the finest. That’s more than enough recognition for me.

I didn’t learn about this until recently, but scheduled posts are native to WordPress. I think it may have been around for quite a while now, but I’m sure at least that it’s a feature of WordPress 2.1 Ella.

I had heard from Jayvee and Rico that they would sometimes schedule their posts, but I didn’t realize how simple it was. I had always thought they used some plugin or other 3rd party application - and today I set out to find it.

Okay, I actually set out to find it yesterday, but I’m writing this post today to come out tomorrow, so today is actually tomorrow, so by the time you read this, today will be yesterday, and what I mean is that I set out to find the scheduling app a few minutes before I started writing this post. Did that confuse you? I hope it did - I enjoy doing that.

Getting back on track, scheduling posts in WordPress is surprisingly easy. Do you want to know how? Read on.

U-Turn: Red SlamA team of Integrated Marketing Communication students from the University of Asia and the Pacific took the AdSpeak 2007 competition by storm recently by taking the top three slots in the print ad category. The team, composed of IMC seniors Nicole Balaoing, Cis Ganuelas, Ralph Mariano, Pao Pielago, and Punky Taguines, received their awards at the AdSpeak student convention last Friday, February 16, at the Student Center Auditorium at Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

U-Turn: Drive Fast / Die FastThe competition, a joint effort of Letran’s Institute of Communication and the Advertising Board of the Philippines, sought the best public service announcements (PSAs) from delegates of the AdSpeak in three categories: print, radio, and television. In the print category, a total of 138 entries were in competition - 14 of which were from UA&P.

U-Turn: ScaryAdSpeak began in 2001 as seminar on the importance of values advertising for Communication Arts students of Letran. In 2003, it opened its doors to other colleges and universities in Metro Manila. Over the years, its delegates have benefited from the insights of various advertising practitioners, including Emily Abrera, Chairman Emeritus of McCann-Erickson; Minyong Ordonez, Founder and former Chairman of Basic Advertising; Yoly Ong, Group Chairperson of Campaigns and Grey; and Jimmy Santiago, Managing Partner of TBWA \ Santiago Mangada Puno. This year, the the AdBoard joined the fray, adding a screening of the 2006 Araw Values Awards and the AdSpeak competition to the programme.

In case you still haven’t figured out what the three images here are, here’s a clue - they’re winners. Entries from UA&P-IMC students took the top three spots, remember? Now, which image took which spot, I’ll leave that for you to figure out.
