Welcome to Link Love: the Narcissism Edition. Narcissism? Yes, narcissism - this edition of Link Love is full of shameless plugs and gratuitous links to my work. Can you handle it? Read on.

One of the goals I had when I started drivebyshooter.net was to turn it into a photography resource. Yes, I wanted my gallery on it - but I also wanted to share what I’ve learned about the craft. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten very far on either count. This post, as well as others, I hope, will remedy that.
Yup, I’ve got a new category: photography.101.

A little over a month ago, I installed Performancing Metrics with the expectation that it would give me “an unrivaled per visitor level of detail.”
In the same post, I also mentioned a fact from their help page:
Performancing Metrics is available for FREE to all users with sites that average less than 1,000 page views per day, which is the vast majority of blogs and web sites out there.
In the same post, I asked two questions: First, does Performancing Metrics live up to its claim? Second, is it really free?
We’ve already answered the second question - it’s free. That is, as long as you don’t get too much traffic on your blog.
The first question, on the other hand, I didn’t answer.
I’m answering it now.

It’s another installation of Link Love, the first for this month. The theme for this edition, beginnings.
- UAPak!!! takes over where The UA&P Campus Paparazzi and The UA&P Insider left off. Yup, the two blogs mentioned - you might remember them from older editions of Link Love - have joined forces to give you news about UA&P. By the way, UAPak!!! is just a week old.
- InXane Reality writes about the insanities of daily life. One such insanity - moving to a new office.
- The Kultura Blog welcomes you. Yes, that’s another blog that has just started. Unlike UAPak!!! though, this blog doesn’t have a whole lot of content built-in. It should grow soon though.
- A bit dated, but Shai Coggins
is going has gone offline to have a baby. Yeah, I know, it’s old news, but it fits the theme, right? You can see pictures here, by the way. Finally, something about a new life, not a new blog.
- Going back to blogging, Jayvee has started BugCasting. I’ve got to ask him now, is that the proper verb form of BuggedCast?
- Pinoy.Tech.Blog wishes the Philippine Internet Connection a belated Happy Birthday. Yup, the Philippines made its first net connection over a decade ago on March 29, 1993. I admit, that’s even more dated than one of the earlier items.
- Yes, I’m plugging myself again, but this is important. Since last week, I’ve been using my real name when blogging. You can still call me (and link to me as) Elber if you want, but I’m using Luis for practically all of my correspondence.

One of my images on Flickr has gotten a whole lot of attention lately. It has gotten almost 10,000 views in the past few days and I didn’t know why - that is, until now.
My image has been Dugg.
Well, maybe that isn’t entirely accurate. You could say it got dragged along when a story on lifehack.org got dugg.
Confused? So was I, but I finally got to the bottom of it. You can read the story below.

I’ve been using NewsGator to aggregate my feeds - I love being able to keep up with all most of the blogs I read on one page. Wait, did I just say most of the blogs I read? Yup. Unfortunately, not all my friends publish their site feeds.
Why? I’m not entirely sure. My best guess is that they want to keep their blogs fairly private - I did once, back when I was still on Blogger. I kept my blog private and I wouldn’t even allow spiders to index it. Of course, I’ve got a different mindset now.
The thing is, the point of publishing a feed isn’t necessarily to publicize your blog, but to allow others to subscribe to your blog. This way, they don’t have to visit you every so often in the hopes of finding a new post. Instead, they just subscribe to your feed - then they’ll get notified when you post something new.
So far, the only blogs I’ve encountered without feeds have been hosted by Blogger - that’s why I’m posting instructions on enabling feeds on your Blogger blog.

Remember my Link Love 2007.02.06 post? Remember the one that highlighted blogs produced by UA&P-IMC students? Remember that I said it was a class project? Remember that I described it as an SEO contest? Remember? Well, we’re talking about a contest, so I’m sharing what I believe are the criteria for judging.
