Since I posted photos of the PhUV, several people have left comments on the vehicle. Quite a number have posed some questions. I hope the following literature will address most of the questions asked.
On that note, I might as well put in my two cents worth. The PhUV, you see, is a prototype - I’ve described at as a proof of concept. It proves that we can produce a vehicle locally, and proves that we can produce it for under half a million pesos.
Yes, some of the parts looked cheap. No, the vehicle was not completely or cleanly finished. Yes, it could have benefited from quite a deal of detailing. Keep in mind thought that the vehicle presented was, like I mentioned, a prototype. It was proof that we can do this.
As the vehicle moves closer to mass production, more improvements will start coming. We can start mass-producing curved panels, fine-tune the design, and clean up those little flaws that everybody picks on.
Having said all that, I’ll shut up and leave you to read the literature on the PhUV. [more…]

Becoming a superhero won’t come cheap, but pretending to be one isn’t that expensive. The first step is getting your own action hero.
Enter the Geek Man action figure.
He may be only 6″ tall, but he has the power to master even the toughest of analytical problems. (Just don’t ask him anything that would require “fashion sense”). His “weapons of wisdom” include:
If you ask me, this figure should be marketed as Nerd Man or Dork Man - there’s a difference between geeks and nerds.
Geeks don’t have fashion sense?!? Yeah, right! Tell that to these geeks. What is it with non-geeks? Do they think all geeks look like Bill Gates?

A little over a month ago, I installed Performancing Metrics with the expectation that it would give me “an unrivaled per visitor level of detail.”
In the same post, I also mentioned a fact from their help page:
Performancing Metrics is available for FREE to all users with sites that average less than 1,000 page views per day, which is the vast majority of blogs and web sites out there.
In the same post, I asked two questions: First, does Performancing Metrics live up to its claim? Second, is it really free?
We’ve already answered the second question - it’s free. That is, as long as you don’t get too much traffic on your blog.
The first question, on the other hand, I didn’t answer.
I’m answering it now.

Father Abraham may have started it, but it looks like the job of tracking the Top 100 Philippine Blogs is no longer his. He’s passing that torch to Andrew de la Serna.
You see, Andrew has taken Father Abraham’s top 100 list and given it a mind of its own. No longer manually updated, his new list is “electro-charged by über-geeky Technorati data sprinkled with Feedburner stats.” On top of that, his new list boasts of its own site.

Yes, Ratified.org, is the new place to see just where you stand in the Philippine Blogosphere.
Now, while I’m happy things are now automated, I’m also sad. I’m sad because I’m not in the top 100. I’m sad because according to Ratified.org, my Technorati rank has dropped 124 spots since yesterday. I’m sad because I’m not sure if Ratified.org is tracking my FeedBurner stats.
It’s ok though. I’m currently hovering just outside the top 100. I hope I can break in sometime soon.

Any photography enthusiast has, at some point, ranted about absurd restrictions on photography. ChrisH and Señor Enrique, for example, have both been asked by overzealous security guards to put away their cameras. Needless to say, neither was very happy - I know I wouldn’t have been.
What makes this worse is that when asked to stop, most of us can only shrug and put our cameras away. We don’t know what our rights are as photographers.
No problem - Darren over at Digital Photography School has just posted something on the topic.

I did it at the BlogCon, and I did it again at the Blog Parteeh - I hid behind a camera. The difference is this time, I posted pictures - lots of them.
You might be thinking: I mentioned this already before - why am I repeating myself? Well, I guess I still want to say a few more things about blogparteeh07. No, my 44,000 words worth of images were not enough - I’ve got a few hundred other words to write.

I haven’t quite set it up yet, but I can live in it.
I want to repaint the walls of my (not quite) new room… but I guess I have to be happy with getting a new paint job for my car instead.
I need to find a way to string over 100 feet of cable from the study downstairs to my room… this means I’ll have internet access from my room.
I want to move my stuff in, but my brother’s stuff is still in the way. I don’t particularly mind having all that audio equipment, but the rest of the stuff has to go.
I technically don’t have a bed yet… instead I have 2 mattresses, one on top of the other.
I have a pink bathroom… and some of the tiles have flowers on them.
I have a fancy ceiling fan with… well… i want simpler light fixtures.
I have a door with more carvings than I care for.
I have a sony component system… with a busted CD changer.
I have a lot of work ahead of me.
